The basic idea with Black Pearl is to mimic the arctic tradition of the kayak as an extension of the paddler's body. The arctic hunting kayak is considered the most sea-worthy of all small craft due to this perfect adaptation – and without it Black Pearl would be no more than the one-size-fits-all commercial look-alikes in the kayak shops. Thus, every Black Pearl is individually adjusted and costs more than my other plans.

Like my other kayaks, Black Pearl can of course, as a crude adjustment, be stretched or shortened just by positioning the molds closer or farther apart – but then missing the ultimate goal with the Black Pearl project.
