Paddling is not very complicated. Of course, a little fundamental understanding of the principle is not to be underestimated – it is nice to know that the power invested isn't wasted on splashing noisily or stirring the water but is efficiently moving the kayak along.

But, as with most things, the potential for complication is unlimited – of which Motionize Paddle is an impressive example.

Two independent sensors, one in the kayak and one on the paddle, sends a lot of data to a computer/display and to a mobile app: strokes/minute, stroke length and depth, efficiency/heart rate, the movements of the kayak etc. Via the app you can get audio coaching to improve your technique and data from the paddling trips can be saved, analysed and compared.
