Immeln and Raslången

The late summer trip with Malmö Kayak Club was just as nice a social arrangement as expected. 25 paddlers, old hands together with new and unexperienced, in all sorts of kayaks from large sea kayaks to light trainers - and a Black Pearl.
The weather was not the best we have had, windy and chilly, but the sun made a brief appearance on Sunday and the rain was never more than a few drops at saturday evening - not enough to chase anyone away from the barbecue.
Everything was business as usual. Lake Immeln on Saturday, launching at Mjönäs. off the wind to Högön for lunch and a climb up to the high cliffs with a breathtaking view over the lake. After that against the wind, hugging the western shore to avoid the worst, to Kvinnoöarna and back to Mjönäs.
Night is spent at a scout facility in the middle of the forest - some in shelters, some in tents and a few embarrassingly convenient in the cottages. After nightfall a huge campfire slowly transformed into a magnificent outdoor grill, and deliciouses appeared from bags and packs, reminding of gourmet magazine articles. A little later, accompanied by coffee and dark chocolate, the lying around the fire took off, and the night had been pitch dark under the stars long before the last left the dying fire for their chosen spot for the night. By some incomprehensible logic the three snoring champions of the club had chosen one cottage each and the shelter - no peace anywhere. I can see a useful addendum to the tour leaders responsibility - except the usual: making sure we have enough cars for transportation, planning the routes et al, also make sure the snorers are placed at a reasonable safety distance from the others.
Sunday was spent on lake Raslången with launching at Bökestad at the southern tip and paddling up to Blankaviken and back, with a couple of stops for lunch and coffee.
Along the shore the first traces of fall began to show. The beeches were fading in orange and the birches were yellowing slightly. The Germans had left for home and danish was heard from canoes and camps all over.
