Technically the water surface is the worst place for those interested in propulsion efficiency. No animals use the surface to get away - they dive or they fly. And submarines are the most efficient displacement ships in term of fuel efficiency.
A couple of years ago I wrote about the Flyak – the planing kayak. Since then a whole bunch of crafts have gone airborne.
Starting with sailing dinghys: the international Moth.
The surfers found out that it wasn´t perhaps a good idea to dip the board – and what the wave surfers can, the windsurfers can.
But also larger crafts were bitten – and even larger.
Maybe it even works by foot (or is it perhaps butt power!)…
Did someone note the shape of the foils – didn´t they resemble a certain paddle type?
