No Måkläppen this year :-(

We (Malmö Kanotklubb) use to tour the shoal Måkläppen every winter, to visit the colony of seals there. It has been a tradition for years - and an eagerly awaited one.
The seal reservation is open to visitors during three winter months. The rest of the year even the water sorrounding the shoal is prohibited for boaters. Yesterday was the last chance.
But this year we did not make it. 20 knot southerly wind on the exposed shoal and a viscous half-frozen ice slush off the beaches was enough to deter even the most hardened winter paddlers (or was it perhaps the contrast to the pool training session on Saturday?).
Here are accounts from earlier visits (sorry, no translation – switch to Swedish in the upper right corner to see all pics)2006 and 2008.
