Snow chaos...

Normally the winters in the south of Sweden are mild and short - a little surpricing since Lund (my town) is on 56° N, approx the same latitude as mid Labrador and just a little south of Anchorage. The climate is an effect of the Gulf Stream, a part of which turns down around Denmark and warms the swedish west coast. But once or twice every winter we have a short but intense snow chaos. During last night we had some snow together with hard winds that stopped all train and air traffic and clogged most roads in the southernmost tip of sweden. More than 200 accidents with cars and trucks were reported during the morning hours and the rescue services have military band wagons on stand by.
I spent an hour removing snow to get to the postbox, only to find that the morning paper had not been delievered.
