Helgen handlar mest om att vara barnvakt, men en stund då och då kan man alltid stjäla sig till. Grovslipning med bandslip och ett par ytterstävbitar som skall slipas till rätt form när epoxin härdat. Jag fäster dem med 5 mm rundstav borrad genom stävämnet och in i innerstäven. Några tag med långbrädan avslöjar att det blir ett ganska enkelt och snabbt jobb att få fason på skrovet. Dels verkar spantmallarna vara ovanligt exakta den här gången och dels kommer skrovet utvändigt att behandlas med epoxi/grafitpulver - vilket innebär att jag inte behöver en snygg träyta, utan kan sluta slipa när det har rätt form.
Glasfiberväven kommer att lamineras med pigmenterad epoxi och direkt därefter bredspacklar jag väven med epoxi och ett extremt lätt och lättslipat fyllnadspulver (West Microlight). På det viset får jag snabbt en slät yta med mindre vikt än den traditionella epoxiuppbyggnaden. Det fungerar dock bara om man planerar att måla skrovet - Microlight är blekt rosa i kulören!
Mostly babysitting this weekend, but a couple of hours will be spent in the workshop - today with the belt sander, the first fairing step. Outer stems are also glued in place with a couple of wooden dowels through the outer and inner stem, ready to be faired into the hull when the epoxy has cured. A couple of minutes longboarding, revealed that the final fairing may be a quick and easy tast. The molds seem to have been very accurate and I will treat the hull with an epoxy/graphite-mix - meaning that I can stop when the hull is fair with no need for a beautiful wooden surface.
I will laminate the cloth with pigmented epoxy to get the color deep in the finish, filling the fibre glass structure with epoxy mixed with West Microlight and black pigment as a fairing compound - a quick and efficient way to create a good foundation för the finishing layer.
