Cut strips

It is a simple task to cut the strips, unless you want to buy finished bead-and-cove strips. Rip from 4-5 20mm boards with a handheld circular saw, adjusted to 5 mm thickness. Not the most entertaining task on the kayak, but it takes an hour or two and then it is over. You could of course use a table saw as well, but in my experience it is easier to run a small saw along a 5 m fixed board, then to run the long boards past a fixed saw.
Store the strips and start assembling the strongback...
